DREF Seeking a Senior Accountant

DREF is seeking applicants for the Foundation’s Senior Accountant position. The Senior Accountant is responsible for accounting for all of DREF’s financial transactions, managing financial processes and subsidiary ledgers, accounting for grant activity and funds; generating financial statements and reports; preparing for financial audits and tax reporting; tracking financial contracts and budgets; forecasting financial performance and performing all other critical financial management functions. The DREF Board of Directors extends sincere gratitude to each of you who supported our recent special event, the DREF Literary Jam. It was an awesome occasion celebrating Women’s History month through great party music provided DJ Vince Adams and a lively book discussion led by author and media expert Harriette Cole, a Delta member. The participation of Honorary Chairpersons Daphne Maxwell Reid and Aunjanue Ellis, both Delta members, made the Literary Jam a memorable evening. Yes, you helped us party with purpose! As we acknowledged the phenomenal contributions of women in the arts, we raised funds to benefit DREF operations and its charitable and educational programming. DST Grand Chapter Establishes Cheryl A. Hickmon Scholarship Fund @ DREF

The Grand Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. has established a scholarship fund at the Delta Research and Educational Foundation (DREF) to honor the memory and legacy of Ms. Cheryl A. Hickmon, the 27th National President of the Sorority, Inc. Ms. Hickmon was elected as Delta’s National President in November 2021 at the Sorority’s 55th National Convention held in Atlanta, GA. National President Hickmon, age 59, resided in Hartford, CT. She passed away on January 20, 2022 after a brief illness. Click on the subject line to learn more>

DREF Welcomes Dr. Antoinette M. Rogers, Director of Programs

Soror Antoinette M. Rogers joins DREF as the full-time incoming Director of Programs. She hails from Richmond Virginia and has been a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. since 1992. She brings extensive professional experience in the areas of K-12 and postsecondary education, and non-profit management. She has previously worked as a public-school teacher, college professor and non-profit manager.

New Leadership Assumes the Helm at the Delta Research and Educational Foundation (DREF)

The Delta Research and Educational Foundation (DREF) will commence its new fiscal year on July 1, 2022 with new leadership assuming the helm. The newly elected Board President is Ms. Renee L. Harper of Boston, MA. Ms. Harper previously served as board treasurer of DREF, the 501 (c)(3) non-profit organization established by Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. Also joining the DREF team will be Ms. Karla M. Green as the newly hired Executive Director, who will manage the daily business affairs of the Foundation’s national operation.
