Latest PHILLIS Journal Revisits the African American Woman and Poverty
In the 2019-20 edition of PHILLIS: The Journal for Research on African American Women, DREF revisits the theme- “The African American Woman and Poverty: The Intersectionality of Economics, Education, and Health.” More than a decade ago, DREF initially addressed the topic: “The Impact of Poverty and Race on African American Women” in its scholarly publication.

DTEC-TAG Launches H.E. LIVE Lessons to Further Educational Equity Efforts through Specialized Instruction & Information Offerings
The Delta Teacher Efficacy Campaign and Teachers Advocating to lead Great Change (DTEC-TAG) programs, are educational initiatives of the Delta Research and Educational Foundation (DREF) and have developed H.E. L.I.V.E. Lessons, instructional & informational live streamed lessons that will be hosted by H.E. educators from across the country.

DREF Remembers Faithful Civil Rights Leaders
The Delta Research and Educational Foundation (DREF) joins the nation and our global communities in remembering the life and legacy of two faithful civil rights leaders: The Honorable John Lewis, a democratic Congressman from Georgia and The Rev. C.T. Vivian, a minister and author. Both distinguished gentlemen were residents of Atlanta, GA and they passed on the same day, July 17, 2020. Click on the headline to read more.

DREF COVID -19 VIRTUAL OFFICE SCHEDULE
Due to the COVID-19 outbreak crisis, the Delta Research and Educational Foundation will operate in telework mode effective Thursday, March 19, 2020, until further notice. During this period, all staff members will be working remotely and will be available via email and/or telephone between the hours of 9:00 AM and 5:30 PM (EST), Monday through Friday. Summer is for Reading - DREF Sister Scholars Recommended Reading List
The school year has ended, vacation requests have been submitted, daylight lasts longer, creating more time to relax and unwind with a good book. Many of us can’t decide what to read or are simply looking for a few good reading suggestions. The DREF Sister Scholars Advisory Council presents its inaugural Recommended Reading List this 2020 summer season. We wrapped up National Gun Violence Awareness Month in June, yet our focus on gun violence prevention at the Delta Research and Educational Foundation (DREF) continues. At DREF, we are concerned and we are involved because we know that gun violence is an everyday stressor, a public health issue, and an epidemic in Black America.
