Thank You for Attending the Self-Care Workshop
Appreciation is extended to all who attended the self-care workshop presented as a part of the Professional Development Series for Educators sponsored by the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation’s Annual Legislative Weekend. The Delta Research and Educational Foundation (DREF) and the Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.(DST) presented the workshop “Pouring from a Full Pitcher—Self-Care: Mind, Body, and Spirit” on September 15. Latest PHILLIS Journal Revisits the African American Woman and Poverty
In the 2019-20 edition of PHILLIS: The Journal for Research on African American Women, DREF revisits the theme- “The African American Woman and Poverty: The Intersectionality of Economics, Education, and Health.” More than a decade ago, DREF initially addressed the topic: “The Impact of Poverty and Race on African American Women” in its scholarly publication.

DREF Re-ignites National Reading Circle
The National Reading Circle sponsored by DREF returned to active status earlier this year, engaging a national audience to read the highly acclaimed book—Caste: The Origins of Our Discontents written by Isabel Wilkerson, the Pulitzer Prize winning journalist.

During this period, all staff members will be working remotely and will be available via email and/or telephone between the hours of 9:00 AM and 5:30 PM (EST), Monday through Friday. DREF Announces New Executive Director Search
DREF is seeking applicants for the Foundation’s Executive Director position. Ms. Cheryl Thomas, CEO of Thomas and Associates, has agreed to be the Executive Director of the Delta Research and Educational Foundation, for a one-year period ending, July, 2022. She has also agreed to be a part of a transition process next year for the new director. Applications are now being accepted with the review process beginning October 15, 2021.
