The Delta Foundation collaborates with other non-profit organizations and private entities to advance its mission of improving the quality of life for women and their families. The majority of its charitable giving service benefits the programs and volunteer service of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. The Foundation also partners with national, regional, and community based organizations that share a similar mission.
Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.
Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. is a private, non-profit organization whose purpose is to provide volunteer service and programs to promote human welfare. The Grand Chapter of the Sorority is comprised of more than 950 chapters throughout the world and 200,000 college-educated women who have become members. The Delta Sorority centers its programming thrust in the following areas: Economic Development, Educational Development, International Awareness and Involvement, Physical and Mental Health, and Political Awareness and Involvement.
Women's Funding Network
The Women’s Funding Network is a global movement of 125 women’s foundations on six continents, all with a shared commitment to creating lasting social change by unleashing the power and potential of women and girls. These ‘women’s funds’ invest in women’s organizations and leadership to empower women and tackle some of today’s most pressing social issues. At the movement’s core is the belief that an investment in a woman is an investment in her family and ultimately her community and her nation—women’s funds catalyze this powerful chain reaction to forge the building blocks for a more just and sustainable world
Cultures of Giving
The Delta Foundation received a generous grant from the Cultures of Giving Fund established at the Rockefeller Philanthropy Advisors through a grant from the W.K. Kellog Foundation. The Cultures of Giving (COG) project enables the Foundation to provide training sessions on fund raising to Delta Sorority members. The training sessions, which began in 2008, educate Delta members on how to implement a successful fund raising campaign for their program initiatives and how to raise funds to impact social change.
Institute for the Advancement of Multicultural & Minority Medicine (IAMMM)
The Delta Foundation is a member of the Advisory Committee for the health project, “A Compelling Collaboration to Reverse Childhood Obesity” sponsored by the Institute for the Advancement of Multicultural & Minority Medicine (IAMMM). The obesity project is funded by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation.
Office of Community Conservation, Baltimore County, MD
The Delta Foundation and Baltimore County Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. are co-grantees for the Youth Risk Reduction Program funded by the Office of Community Conservation of Baltimore County, MD. The Foundation administers the grant and serves as the fiscal agent; the Baltimore County Delta Chapter implements the program component at the Winfield PAL Center located in Randallstown, MD.
The Women’s Fund for a Greater Memphis
The Women’s Fund for a Greater Memphis (WFGM) is a 501 (c)
(3) non-profit organization founded in 1995. The mission of WFGM is to
encourage philanthropy and foster leadership among women and support programs
that enable women and children to reach their potential. The Delta Foundation
collaborates with WFGM to present an annual program commemorating the life of
Ida B. Wells (1862-1931), an iconic visionary leader who fought for women’s
rights, civil rights, and human rights.
Shelby County Alumnae Chapter, Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.
The Shelby County Alumnae Chapter was established in 2009 to provide public service in the county and suburban areas of Memphis, Tennessee. The Chapter collaborates with The Delta Foundation to present an annual program commemorating the life of Ida B. Wells and it also supports the Foundation’s Center for Research on African American Women by having a formed a Reading Circle among its membership.
