Cultures of Giving Online Donor Challenge Sponsored by W.K. Kellogg Foundation

The Delta Foundation is selected as one of 22 minority organizations to participate in the W.K. Kellogg Foundation's Cultures of Giving Online Donor Challenge April 17-26

There’s a positive trend in the air—the face of philanthropy is changing. Sure, the charity balls are still there along with the wealthy donors, but philanthropy is no longer their exclusive domain. Communities of color are giving more often and in larger amounts than before[1]. Sixty-three percent of Latino households now make charitable donations, and African Americans give away 25 percent more of their income per year than whites. It’s all part of a groundbreaking movement to activate and organize giving within and on behalf of America’s communities of color—known as identity-based philanthropy. WKKFCOG.jpg

For 10 days in April, The Delta Foundation will be part of the Cultures of Giving Donor Challenge, an online giving campaign to support nonprofits addressing high-priority issues in communities of color across the country. It celebrates America’s diverse traditions of giving while leveraging the impact of collective philanthropy to support communities in need. The Delta Foundation will be one of over 20 well-respected nonprofits, raising millions in donations from April 17th through 26th. During these 10 days, every dollar and donor will be worth more as the W.K. Kellogg Foundation will match funds up to $20,000 and offer an additional $100,000 to the organization that raises the most money during the 10-day challenge. People will have a chance to make a real difference in the communities they care about.

The Cultures of Giving Donor Challenge coincides with National Volunteer Month. The good buzz from both efforts should work both ways. New donors will be introduced to great nonprofits. Those already active as leaders in their communities will feel encouraged by the exposure and outpouring of new donor dollars.
