Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.  has been in regular communication with our South Atlantic Regional Director, Juanita B. Massenburg, to receive updated information on Hurricane Florence and its effect on that region of the country. Based on the information she provided, Hurricane Florence has caused power outages, significant flooding, rain, and wind damage to North Carolina and South Carolina, with no reported damages in the Commonwealth of Virginia and Bermuda. Many sorors were under mandatory evacuations but were able to seek shelter elsewhere with their families and/or friends.

The following cities in North Carolina that are currently experiencing significant flooding are: Elizabeth City, Fayetteville, Jacksonville, Lumberton, Washington-Plymouth, New Bern and Wilmington.

In South Carolina, the cities impacted are Bennettsville-Cheraw, Beaufort, Summerville, Monks Corner, Charleston, Conway, Georgetown, Marion-Dillon, Chesterfield, Hartsfield and Hilton Head.
