DREF Programs Highlighted at the 53rd DTS National Convention

DREF workshops, presentations, and 50th Anniversary Gala were a huge success at the Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. 53rd National Convention. DREF workshops included an updated on the progress of the Delta Teacher Efficacy Campaign (DTEC)  entitled "Transforming Education by Shifting Perspectives " presented by Dr Johni Cruse Craig, DTEC program manager.  Attendees had the opportunity to: 
 
Identify individual implicit biases and stereotypes and how they manifest in educational arenas (classrooms, schools, districts and communities)

Make deeper connections to the awareness and the need to be culturally relevant in application and teaching the whole child.

Discuss and implement new strategies to reach and teach all children while advocating within their circle of influence.

DREF Director of Programs, Deborah Peaks Coleman conducted a session on DREF's Charitable Engagement Services.  Charitable Engagement provides opportunity's for DST Chapters to strengthen their outreach to the communities they serve, provide scholaships and reaised fundswith support from DREF and support their community initiatives through the Community Grantmaking Program
